Supervisor Training and Programs

Overview of Programs and Trainings

Hire Achievers and On-Campus Internships

The Hire Achievers program is a campuswide initiative to assist departments that want to hire part-time student employees. This program offers up to a 50% match in funding these positions. Our goal is to assist supervisors in strengthening the experiences of student employees in on-campus positions and to enhance their preparation for professional work by connecting student employment to undergraduate learning outcomes.

Job Description Training and Workshops

The Office of Student Employment is now offering training sessions and workshops for how to write job descriptions. This process can be challenging and frustrating at times, but it is an important part of hiring a new employee. Our goal is to help you understand all of the parts that go into a good job description and to simplify the writing process for you.

Brown Bag Series

The Office of Student Employment offers numerous training opportunities on student employment at IUPUI, including supervision topics, student employment refreshers, policies and regulations, and last but not least, the Federal Work-Study Program. Check out the list of topics and our calendar for opportunities to register. These workshops are free and are open to the entire IUPUI community.

Jaguar Supervisor Training

Supervisors of student employees encounter unique challenges and opportunities to support students as employees and employees as students. They must also learn how to promote work, life, and school balance for their student employees. The Jaguar Series training program focuses on creating a balance between those roles and on guiding supervisors to confidently and competently create a meaningful work experience for IUPUI students.
